Tatkal sewa or takal scheme of Indian Railways has a list of features and conditions which are as follows:

The charges for Tatkal has been stipulated as percentile of railways fare @ of 10% of basic fare for 2nd class and for all other classes as 30% of basic fare.

Instead of end station to end station now tatkal tickets would be issued on distance covered on actual basis. Unutilized seates would be utilized by general RAC or waiting list passengers

The facility of takal service would also be introduced for executive class in trains of Shatabadi Express. Ten percent of the accomdation would be earmarked for availablity.

The services of Tatkal opens at eight in morning. There is no need of any identity proof if you are traveling under tatkal scheme during journey and booking of ticket.
One cannot change the name in tatkal after booking.

Refunds under tatkal scheme are as follows :

There would be flat 25% refund on total fare paid on the ticket. 100% refund would be available incase :

1. The delay in train is more than 3 hours at starting point of the journey
2. If there is diversion in route of train.
3. If the stations for boarding and the station for destination or both the two stations are not on diversion.
4. If the class in which customer has been alloted the tatkal accommodation the coach is not attached.
5. If the lower class has been accomodated to the person and he does not want to go in that particular class.
